Provider Tools
The Cardio Tennis experience includes:
Music
The music should be high beats per minute (BPM) about 120-160 and should have no gaps between songs. You do not need to have slower music for the warm-up and cool down it best to just get the party started.
- Research shows a person will work 33% harder if training with music
- Endurance improves 15% and listening to joyful tunes causes the blood vessels to dilate and this increases blood flow
- Sites are pushing the envelope with music by putting speakers on the courts and playing music all day
- It’s a party, its exciting and it can attract new members
The best source for Cardio Tennis music is www.PowerMusic.com. PowerMusic is the leader in fitness specific music, it is royalty free and they cover every genre of music from Top 40 hits, Pop, Rock, Country, Latin, Contemporary, and Decade (70’s, 80’s, and 90’s). Heart Rate Monitors
The Cardio Tennis pro is encouraged to invest in a heart rate monitor for themselves. As a licensed Cardio Tennis Professional you have access to discounts on Polar heart rate monitors both for personal use and packages. The end goal is to educate the consumer on the benefits of training with a heart rate monitor and owning their own is a wise investment for a healthy lifestyle. For Cardio Tennis and all other fitness options we suggest the FT7 or the FT60. For more information visit www.PolarUSA.com.
Agility Ladder
The agility ladder is the ultimate sideline tool!
- It is FUN!!
- It is safe and easy to set-up
- The player is improving their footwork without even knowing it
- Change the footwork pattern each time you change the drill When purchasing an agility ladder make sure it has flat bottom rungs and use the 15 foot ladder. If you go with a 30 foot ladder make sure it disconnects to make two 15 foot sections. Never have someone go through 30 feet of ladder at once
Transition balls
Low compression balls are the key to success in Cardio Tennis…
- Keep the class safe
- Allow players of mixed ability to play together
- Are the great equalizer
- Make playing tennis “easier” for starter players
- Make it tough for advanced players to hit clean winners therefore more cardio
- Are tools for improving footwork and the intensity of the workout as a player has to go to the ball
Transition balls should be used in all segments of the Cardio Tennis class with the exception of drill based where the traditional yellow balls can be used.
Warm-up: red foam, red felt or orange
